Location: Violin Solo Bach, Partita Nr 1 BWV 1002 recording

It was a nice location recording at the end of December 2021. Church in Minsk (Belarus).

I used two microphone plans:
1) Close AEA N8 Matched Pair in Grace Design m201 preamps.
2) Main array with LR 40cm Schoeps CMC6 MK2h (omni capsules), and Center M/S setup with Sennheiser 8040(Center) and Rode NTR ribbon mic (side). All in Antelope Orion Studio Rev.2017 preamps.

I set the main pair further at the start point, but I wanted more direct sound, the sound from the main array was too thin and weak. This configuration maximizes the balance between direct sound and church hall. Close mics are for adding some body to the violin.

I prefer stereo M/S setup in "Center" than simple mono. I think when you mix it with LR there is a better result with width and depth of the recording and when you listening in mono. Distance between LR and MS is approximately 34 centimeters. I like to add a real center mics in main array in my stereo recordings (but Decca Tree is not so good variant in situation like this).

There are some sound examples:
(It's not the best takes, I just accidentally made some behind the scenes videos)
