Secrets of Relic Memories
A practical guide: bind memory words, unlock hidden tracks, claim rewards
Sonic Relics remember words.
Secret Phrases are word slots.
Your job: match them — and unlock the soundtrack. 🎧🗝️
This guide is written for normal players: simple steps, zero “backend talk”, but all the important rules and exact rewards are here.
- Every Sonic Relic has a memory word (open your relic and press Memory).
- Secret Phrases have word slots. Each slot expects one specific word.
- Match relic words to phrase slots. When all slots are filled:
- A hidden track unlocks instantly.
- You get a one-time reward based on phrase length.
- Rewards per word:
- 1,000 SONO per word (on-chain)
- 100 relic fragments per word (instant)
- Secret Phrase SONO ignores halving — it stays constant.
- Bound relic units become locked (🔒 Bound to Secret Phrase) and can’t be sold or burned.

1) What is a Secret Phrase, exactly?
Think of a Secret Phrase as a short lyric line made of several word slots. Each slot expects one specific word. Your Sonic Relics “remember” words — your job is to bind the right relic to the right slot.
This is a “collection puzzle” system: it rewards players who pay attention to relic memories and build word sets over time.
1.1 Rewards (exact numbers)
Example: a 6-word phrase pays 6,000 SONO + 600 fragments on first completion.
The reward is one-time per phrase per account. Completing the same phrase again won’t pay again — the soundtrack stays unlocked, but rewards do not repeat.
1.2 Why relics get locked
When you bind a relic unit to a phrase slot, that unit becomes locked. This prevents people from “recycling” the same relic unit across many phrases for infinite rewards.
2) Where to start (UI path)
Open Events → Secrets of Relic Memories.
2.1 What phrase cards show
Each phrase card shows:
- Title
- The phrase text
- Total word slots (how many words you must bind)
- Your progress (how many slots are already filled)
You can revisit this page anytime to track progress or continue binding.
2.2 Where unlocked tracks appear
When a phrase is completed, the hidden track unlocks instantly and appears in your Global Music Player. Your phrase card will also show as completed.
3) Binding words — step by step
- Open a phrase you want to complete.
- You’ll see the phrase split into slots — each slot expects a word.
- For a slot, choose a relic whose memory word matches that slot word.
- Click Bind.
- Repeat until all slots are filled.
3.1 Smart matching rules (so you don’t rage)
Matching is tolerant to punctuation, quotes, and capitalization. The system normalizes words so you don’t lose to typography.
Daylight, daylight, and "daylight" are treated as the same word.
Dashes/quotes/extra punctuation are ignored — but the base letters must match.
3.2 Duplicates & stacks
If you own multiple units of the same relic, binding uses one unit (not the entire stack). Only the bound unit becomes locked. Your remaining units stay free.
4) What “locked” actually means
A bound unit shows something like phrase: (and in UI: 🔒 Bound to Secret Phrase).
Locked units can’t be sold or burned for SONO.
- Locked units cannot be sold on the market.
- Locked units cannot be burned for SONO.
- If a unit is locked by another phrase, it can’t be used here.
4.1 Reassign inside the same phrase
You can move a bound unit to a different slot within the same phrase. This is useful if you bound something wrong or you want to reshuffle.
4.2 No cross-phrase reuse
A relic unit bound to Phrase A cannot be used for Phrase B. If you want to complete multiple phrases that share a word, you need multiple units with that word.
5) Example walkthrough
Let’s say a phrase reads:
“under the silver sky”
That’s 4 slots. You need relic units whose memory words are:
- under
- the
- silver
- sky
Bind a matching relic to each slot. On the final bind:
- The hidden track unlocks instantly.
- You receive 4,000 SONO + 400 fragments (one time for that phrase).
6) Common issues & quick fixes
If something fails, the UI (or server response) usually includes a short code. Here’s what they mean and what to do.
6.1 Error codes explained
WORD_MISMATCH
RELIC_NOT_FOUND
RELIC_LOCKED_OTHER_PHRASE
RELIC_ALREADY_LINKED_OTHER_PHRASE
These are not “mystery bugs” — each one has a clear reason.
-
WORD_MISMATCH
The relic’s memory word doesn’t match the slot word. Matching ignores case/punctuation — but the base letters must match. -
RELIC_NOT_FOUND
Double-check relic ownership or the relic ID (usually only happens with outdated UI state or wrong selection). -
RELIC_LOCKED_OTHER_PHRASE
That unit is already bound to another phrase (you’ll see the other phrase id/tag). Use a different unit. -
RELIC_ALREADY_LINKED_OTHER_PHRASE
Same idea: the unit is already linked elsewhere. Try another unit — or finish the phrase it belongs to.
6.2 “No SONO minted”
If you don’t have a wallet connected, you still get relic fragments immediately. The SONO mint is skipped until a wallet is linked.
Once you link a wallet, future completions will mint SONO on-chain normally. You’ll see the on-chain transaction record in your SONO tab.
7) Tips to complete phrases faster
- Scan memory words first. In your relics, open Memory and look for exact matches.
- Use duplicates wisely. If you have stacks, binding splits off one unit and locks only that part.
- Prioritize rare words. Words like the are easy; hunt unique words first.
- Link your wallet early. So the on-chain mint happens immediately when you complete a phrase.
8) Under the hood (for the curious)
You don’t need this section to play — but it explains why the system feels consistent and “non-buggy” compared to typical web games.
- Stable matching: words are normalized (trim punctuation + lowercase) so typography doesn’t break progress.
- Consistency & safety: database locks are used during bind to prevent race conditions (double binds).
- Idempotent rewards: one phrase pays once, even if a request retries or your connection glitches.
- Progress caching: phrase lists/details use caching (ETag) so the UI stays snappy.
9) FAQ
-
Can I unbind a relic?
You can reassign a bound unit within the same phrase. You can’t move it to a different phrase. -
Where do unlocked tracks live?
In your Global Music Player (and the phrase shows as completed). -
Do Secret Phrase rewards halve?
No. SONO from Secret Phrases ignores halving and stays constant. -
What happens if I complete the same phrase again?
You can’t “farm it again”. It stays completed; rewards don’t repeat.
10) Your next move
Open Events → Secrets of Relic Memories, start binding your words, unlock the soundtrack, and bank your rewards.
If something feels confusing, send feedback — making this loop smooth and satisfying is a top priority.
